The Xambanga
The magical world of giants assembles with all the solemnity and festive spirit befitting of a big annual festival. From the different points in the square (C/ del Bisbe, C/ de Ferran, C/ de Jaume I and C/ de la Ciutat) we will see different giant figures in an event led by two presenters who will delight us with their narration of the festival and with musical accompaniment from the stage in Plaça de Sant Jaume.
During the Xambanga the figures gather in the square and get ready to dance freely, providing an opportunity for proximity and connection with members of the public within the framework of the festival celebrations. The square becomes an explosion of festivities with lights, confetti and balloons surrounding the public. The entry into the City Council, the house of all citizens, concludes the event.
The connecting thread and theme of this year’s Xambanga evoke the shared values of the giant world, in which the cultural rights of citizens and tolerance are two fundamental pillars, based on the diversity and plurality of a dynamic and cutting-edge city. A city that needs spaces that reflect the city model and social model we want. And culture is a space for enjoyment, for creation, participation, for meeting up, for learning and reflection.
