The Museu Nacional is giving voice to five poets reciting their poems about conflict and war, opposite items from the modern art collection representing it.

The result are these five audiovisual pieces and poetic takes on conflict, memory and its consequences, by Laura Torres, Gabriel Ventura, Gerard Vila Nebot, Glòria Coll Domingo and Andrea Ambatlle.

The Museu Nacional is dedicating an important part of this year’s programme to memory and war. Entitled “Guerra Civil. Art, conflicte i memòria” [Civil War. Art, conflict and memory], a photographic chronicle of war, the destruction and the safeguarding of artistic heritage, propaganda in times of conflict and the effects of aerial bombings on the population are just a few of the issues dealt with in the spaces that the museum has renovated and extended, and based on several exhibitions, talks and activities such as this “Davant la guerra: poetes en diàleg amb el MNAC” [Facing war: poets in dialogue with MNAC].
