Entries for the fifteenth edition of the 25 November Award are now being accepted

Projects for the fifteenth edition of the 25 November Award may be submitted until 25 September 2020.

Every year since 2005, and within the framework of the Citizen Agreement for a City Free of Violence Against Women, Barcelona City Council has called for entries for the 25 November Award to commemorate International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Based on the premise that gender violence is a serious breach of human rights, the City Council wants to contribute to the enjoyment of full citizenship, autonomy and freedom for all women in the city.

This year, under the slogan “Block the troll: feminist social media strategies”, the award aims to support research, awareness and collective rejection initiatives against gender violence and harassment in digital environments.

Above all, the award aims to promote reflection on the imperative need to create safe digital environments that can be trusted, provide specific technological tools and resources for women to prevent digital aggressions and defend themselves if they do occur, train them to identify situations of sexist harassment on social media, and increase people’s knowledge about this area.

The aim of the award is to provide financial resources and institutional support to the winning project, which must not have been implemented before but which may be at the initial stage of implementation.

The award is worth €15,000, and the deadline for the submission of projects is 25 September 2020.
