Barcelona City Council’s Sala Ciutat was the venue for the signing of the new agreement for the civic management of the LGBTI Centre between the City Council and the Platform of LGBTI Organisations of Catalonia. This agreement has been allocated a budget of €1,328,000.00 for two financial years, 2026 and 2027, with the possibility of a two-year extension until 31 December 2029.

Inaugurated on 19 January 2019, the Barcelona LGBTI Centre provides information and community engagement services, as well as guidance and initial support for LGBTI people and their communities, in coordination with various organisations and public authorities across the city.

Over the years, the range of services and activities offered by the Centre has been further developed, and the facility has become a recognised reference point for sexual, emotional and gender diversity in the city of Barcelona. The signing of this agreement confirms the City Council’s continued confidence in the management of the facility by LGBTI organisations.

According to data from the latest annual report, for the year 2024, a total of 777 people used the reception and support service, while the Centre’s information and community engagement service dealt with 5,711 enquiries. Furthermore, in 2024, a total of 11,079 people took part in activities organised at the LGBTI Centre, including assemblies, film forums, presentations, workshops, reading clubs, themed events and talks, among many others.
