New edition of the Young Female Creators Award

New edition of the Young Female Creators Award, which aims to encourage audiovisual creation and production among the city’s young women, lesbians and trans people.

The Francesca Bonnemaison Women’s Cultural Centre (La Bonne), in collaboration with Barcelona City Council’s Department of Feminisms and LGBTI and the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB), is holding a new edition of the Young Female Creators Award with the aim of encouraging audiovisual creation and production among the city’s young women, lesbians and trans people, this year under the slogan “Our homes, our care”

In a society that is knee-deep in this fragile present, and following a few months in which, more than ever, our homes have become a place of welcome, protection from the weather and shelter, but also of conflict, imbalances and claims, the aim is to focus the theme of the award on the home as a physical and symbolic space and, with it, on how we care at home for both ourselves and the people who are there with us.

The Award aims to promote the creation of film stories woven through the resilience of women, lesbians and trans people in their full diversity.Stories that are ready to vindicate feminist self-care, ranging from the pleasure of parenting to condemning the most precarious realities, such as that of domestic workers. Tales that are linked to the various processes of empowerment from both our physical and our symbolic homes.

This year, the Award will be endowed with €5,000 to carry out the proposal submitted, as well as a technical residency in La Bonne for post-production. The winners will also take part in a “mistress class” with a female audiovisual director or producer.

Submissions will be accepted between 14 September and 6 November. The registration form will be made available during this period.
