Fort Pienc Market

In 2003, a new market came into operation in Barcelona, in the Fort Pienc neighbourhood, on the block bordered by the streets Ali Bei, Sardenya, Sicília and Ribes, where a whole set of facilities was built.

The building, built by ProEixample with a total surface area of 4,262 m2 and with an investment of 4,800,000 euros, has two underground floors that house a Mercadona supermarket and the market's logistics and services, the loading and unloading bays and waste collection. On the street-level floor is the fresh produce market, with a total constructed area of 1,149 m2, that houses fourteen establishments.

The new municipal market includes a range of facilities for local residents, including an old people's residency with 150 places and a day centre, a student residency with a 200-bed capacity, as well as a kindergarten and the extension of the Civic Centre Ateneu de Fort Pienc.
