BIMSA’s governing board has now awarded the first four lots of civil engineering work to connect the tram networks between Pl. Glòries and C/ Girona, as well as the urban reconditioning of Av. Diagonal. The work will provide the city with a public transport system connecting nine municipalities in the metropolitan area.
The overall investment for this work, due to get under way next year, is 46 million euros. This is distributed as follows:
- Lot 1: urbanisation of Plaça de les Glòries. Awarded to: UTE FERROVIAL CONSTRUCCIÓN S.A- CONSTRUCCIONES RUBAU S.A-COPISA. Amount awarded: 8,319,786,93 euros.
- Lot 2: urbanisation of Avinguda Diagonal, between Gran Via and Carrer Lepant, and implementation of the tram network. Awarded to: UTE VIAS Y CONSTRUCCIONES, S.A. – CRC OBRAS Y SERVICIOS, S.L. Amount awarded: 10,112,874,68 euros.
- Lot 3: urbanisation of Av. Diagonal, between Carrer de Lepant and Carrer de Nàpols, and implementation of the tram network. Awarded to: UTE COPCISA, S.A – SACYR CONSTRUCCIÓN, S.A – SCRINSER, S.A. Amount awarded: 16,661,022,22 euros.
- Lot 4: urbanisation of Avinguda Diagonal, between Carrer de Nàpols and Passeig de Sant Joan, and implementation of the tram network between Carrer de Nàpols and Carrer de Girona. Awarded to: UTE COMSA, S.A.U. – FCC CONSTRUCCIÓN, S.A. Amount awarded: 10,912,827,00 euros.
Following the awarding of these four lots for the first stage of the work, a further five remain to be resolved. These are for work relating to systems and tracks and will be awarded progressively over the coming months. The Full Council has also approved an investment of 9.6 million euros in favour of the Metropolitan Transport Authority, to fund the underground power supply system for the connection of the tram infrastructure.
