By Jaume Ayats, ethnomusicologist and director of Museu de la Música de Barcelona.

The research and fieldwork of an ethnomusicologist trains a unique point of view, a particular sense of smell towards musical tools and the social life of music. This means that this kind of people ask some special questions and set out in detail the instruments that can be quite different from those that call attention to other professions. What is surprising, then, from the Museum of Music to an ethnomusicologist? what sensation do the objects transmit to you? What do they say? ... this is the challenge of the concrete look.
