Aresta is a sound and performance installation featuring an ensemble of autonomous saxophones. The music they play is computer-generated through algorithmic composition processes and the neural network. The instruments are played with no human on stage. In addition, a hundred LEDs placed inside the saxophones generate a light choreography and an illusion created by immobile objects. The piece makes a reflection on automation and questions whether human presence on stage is necessary and the potential obsolescence of the performer.
