Paris 1911

12.05.2022

At the beginning of the 20th century, Paris became one of the most important musical centers for performers and composers. In 1911, Frederic Mompou travelled to Paris, where he began to compose Impresiones íntimas, a set of pieces that already defined his style. Seven years earlier, the guitarist Miquel Llobet had made contact with the wide world of Parisian music. Also in 1949, a young Narcís Bonet coincided with Mompou using a very rich and original harmonic discourse that pursued simplicity and resorted to the popular songbook.

The guitarist Bernat Padrosa takes us on a journey through the cultural bustle of the city of the arts with the album Impresiones íntimas, combining the music of Mompou with that of Heitor Villa-Lobos and introducing us to folk Catalan popular songs by Bonet that imply an original and groundbreaking fresh reinterpretation of the popular melodies that Llobet used in his work.

Activity created in collaboration with the Associació Joan Manén and included in the 11th edition of the cycle Els teus clàssics.
