Would you like to learn how and why percussion instruments are used in different parts of the world? Take a tour of the museum and join a workshop to make your own instrument, perhaps a rattle drum like those used in Tibet and Japan, or maracas for the little ones.

Bufamón (Discover the history of wind instruments)

A tour of selected areas of the permanent collection to discover wind instruments from different periods and cultures, followed by a workshop where the children can create a unique and original wind instrument called a barretinophone. It’s simple, fun, and incredibly loud!

Dona-li corda (Discover the history of string instruments)

As we explore the permanent exhibition, we’ll reflect on what the earliest string instruments created by humans might have looked like and how they have transformed over time across various geographical regions. Trace the path from the Ektar or Gopichand to the piano, and then create an unusual instrument: “a variable-tension plucked monochord”. Sounds super technical, doesn’t it? But don’t worry, you can use your imagination and call it whatever you like!

Sound experimentation workshop to play with the sounds produced by the Theremin, the Reactable and other musical devices that need electricity to make sound. The workshop will be followed by an interactive tour of the electroacoustic instruments in the collection.

Let’s play the janggu! A Korean percussion instrument
Join us for a percussion workshop with the Museum’s janggus, a traditional Korean instrument that has been used for centuries. The amazing sound of these hourglass-shaped drums will transport you to a different musical world full of new rhythm combinations!
