Exhibition Joan Manén, pride and destiny. Marking 50 years since the musician's death.

04.11.2021 to 06.02.2022

The Museu de la Música, strongly committed to the Catalan musical heritage, joins the Manén’s Year on the commemoration of 50th anniversary of his death. For this reason, it presents, in collaboration with the Associació Joan Manén, a commemorative exhibition with the aim of bringing the figure of the violinist and composer closer to the public. Joan Manén was one of the most renowned and internationally acclaimed artists of the last century in our country.

He was a self-made musician, individualistic and highly intuitive, who felt predestined to play an important role in the musical scene since he was a child. Manén had an extraordinary life shaped by his talent, by the historical convulsions of his generation and by an overwhelming personality that represents the exponent of the genius's ideal we had in the twentieth century.

A compilation of photographs, paintings and drawings, programs, sheets music, letters, some author's instruments and other objects has been used to create a portrait of his life and artistic career. The exhibition includes the screening of the documentary Joan Manén, Variacions sense tema (Joan Manén, Variations without theme), produced by Marcial AV, as well as other activities.
