What is religious pluralism?

Barcelona is a plural, diverse and dynamic city, and this diversity is also manifested in the religious and belief sphere. This religious plurality is not concentrated only in the city centre or in specific areas, but is transversal throughout the territory in terms of the various religious and spiritual traditions. In 2024, the city had 535 centres of worship and 1.004 religious communities and entities. It is estimated that 37 different religious or spiritual traditions are present in the city.

“Policy of recognition of the coexistence of different expressions of conscience (religious or not) in which the Public Administration assumes the guarantee of fundamental rights promoting that this coexistence takes place in terms of freedom, equity and respect”.
