Participatory process to amend the city by-law on coexistence extended

25/04/2024 - 11:30

Safety and prevention. New public meetings will be held in May.

Participatory processes consist of a series of sessions over a fixed period to promote debate and weigh up arguments among members of the public and municipal chiefs. Three sessions were held in February to amend the by-law on coexistence, with another seven now to take place in the remaining districts.

The goal is to amend the current by-law on coexistence, the regulation aimed at preserving public space a place for harmony and respect towards others. The idea is for everyone to be able to conduct their activity freely and be able to pursue leisure and recreation with complete respect for the rights of others and the multiple ways of life in Barcelona.

After eighteen years with the current by-law in place, and with the transformation the city has seen during that time, some amendments are now needed to match the by-law to people’s new realities.

The seven new meetings will all be held at 6.30 pm, at the following locations:

  • 13.05.2024: Espai Jove La Fontana
  • 14.05.2024: Centre Cívic Navas
  • 15.05.2024: Institut Municipal d’Educació de Barcelona
  • 22.05.2024: Espai Jove Boca Nord
  • 27.05.2024: Casa Orlandai
  • 29.05.2024: Districte de les Corts
  • 30.05.2024: Centre Cívic Zona Nord

Advance registration is required at all sessions, which will address the following:

  • Update to the current regulations
  • Evaluation of new conduct to include
  • Evaluation of existing conduct to amend
  • Evaluation of other cross-cutting aspects
