From 1 December, the owners of vehicles classified with environmental labels B (yellow sticker), C (green sticker), ECO (green and blue sticker) and Zero emissions (blue sticker) will be able to obtain the labels from post offices in Catalonia.
From the 1 to 15 of December, the labels will be on sale for 5 euros at 30 branches of the Post Office in Catalonia.
And, from 15 of December onwards, the number of offices selling the labels will increase to 70 branches of the Post Office in Catalonia and the main post offices in each province.
Making the labels more accessible
This new measure aims to increase the accessibility of the labels for the owners of vehicles that meet the minimum environmental requirements.
The DGT has already sent environmental labels to owners of these vehicles, however by putting the labels on sale in post offices it will be possible for owners who, for example, have lost theirs, to obtain a new one.
Only vehicles that do not meet the minimum environmental requirements will not have received a label, nor will they be able to display any type of environmental label issued by the DGT.
There is no legal requirement to display the label on your vehicle however, it helps Barcelona’s Guàrdia Urbana police to monitor traffic in the event of an NO2 pollution episode.
In any case, the relevant administrative bodies have the ability to access the DGT vehicle register in real time and immediately find out the environmental classification and type of label that corresponds to each vehicle.
The DGT environmental labels classify the environmental impact of each vehicle.
The aim of the DGT vehicle fleet classification system is to discriminate in favour of the most environmentally-friendly vehicles and act as an effective tool in municipal policies, both in imposing driving restrictions during high-pollution episodes, and in promoting new technologies through tax incentives or benefits relating to mobility and the environment.
How can I find out if my vehicle has an environmental label?
You can check your vehicle’s DGT environmental label on the Air Quality website. Enter your vehicle registration number to find out if mobility restrictions in the Barcelona conurbation affect you, within the framework of the campaign against environmental pollution.
You can also consult this information on the DGT website.
