(Owing to the drought, no type of water can be used to eliminate dust in the air, although in exceptional cases where this poses a health risk, special authorisation may be given, always using groundwater).

Barcelona City Council has activated its Air-pollution Action Protocol for high levels of atmospheric pollution in the City, in a Preventive Warning phase, due to high levels of particulate pollution (PM₁₀), in accordance with the alert issued by the Government of Catalonia.

The Preventive Warning is the phase prior to a possible declaration of an atmospheric episode and forecasts moderate levels of the pollutant, without this necessarily meaning that an atmospheric episode will occur, and, therefore, the aim is to inform the population preventively.
