Bologna

On April 1, 2022, a second collaboration agreement was signed in Barcelona between the city councils of Bologna and Barcelona (the first agreement was signed on November 26, 2018). With a duration of three years, the agreement demonstrates the commitment to share priority policies and projects and to work together in such diverse areas as digital policies, science and research, sustainable mobility, culture, urban innovation, the promotion of digital inclusion and the ethical use of artificial intelligence, local or community-rooted cultural projects, or strategies to promote access to affordable housing for all. They also commit to exchanging good practices and experiences in support of sustainable tourism, fostering an inclusive sports culture, or promoting more female municipal governments from the perspective of equal opportunities and access to positions of responsibility.

Furthermore, the agreement places special emphasis on the promotion of digital policies through the computational research centers of both cities. Barcelona and Bologna are home to two of the three most powerful supercomputers in Europe, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-National Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) and CINECA, the Italian advanced computing center located in Bologna.
