Barcelona works on strengthening relations with North America
Barcelona maintains cordial and fluent relations with various cities of the United States and Canada.
The strengthening of the relations with strategic cities of the United States is one of the priorities of the international action of the City Council. In this sense, Barcelona is twinned with Boston and San Francisco and keeps up a priority relation with New York.
With regard to Canada, the cooperation is focused in a special way on Montreal.
There are diverse fields of collaboration and exchange: economic promotion and business missions, cultural exchanges, urban planning, sustainability or new technologies.
In some cases, this relation has been formalised with the establishment of twinning agreement or cooperation protocols.
