Solidarity Christmas at fire stations and the Espai Bombers: bring us a toy!
As ever, the Barcelona Fire Service has launched its annual solidarity campaign to collect toys so that no child goes with a gift this Christmas. As from today, you can help out by taking along a new toy for children up to the age of 16.
The toy collection is being conducted at the Espai Bombers until 4 January. In exchange for contributing, the museum offers free admission for visitors. Toys can also be taken along to any fire station in Barcelona up until 20 December.
Another way of helping out is by purchasing the toys created by the Barcelona Fire Service, such as the Joc de la Foca (Seal Game), now on sale at the Espai Bombers. Featuring illustrations by Pilarín Bayés, the game is similar to the goose game but the goal is for young children to learn about preventing fires.
Finally, it is also possible to make a donation through the Fundació Migranodearena. Bombers Solidaris will use the money raised to purchase educational, sustainable and locally sourced toys.
With the aim of no child missing out on the magic of Christmas, the Barcelona Fire Service has opened up this campaign in recent years to all citizens, schools and companies wishing to take part.
