Barcelona takes part in the FITUR International Tourism Fair
The second Deputy Mayor, Maria Eugènia Gay, took part in the inauguration of the Destination Barcelona stand, which presents a new programme under the slogan “This is Barcelona” for visitors to enjoy the experiences offered by the city and its surrounding area.

Barcelona is taking part again in the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) in Madrid from 22 to 26 January. The ‘Destination Barcelona’ stand is jointly coordinated by Barcelona City Council, Turisme de Barcelona and Barcelona Provincial Council.
Participating in the inauguration of the stand were the second Deputy Mayor, Maria Eugènia Gay, the chair of the Barcelona Tourism Consortium, Jordi Clos, and the chair of Barcelona Provincial Council, Lluïsa Moret. As Gay affirms, “it’s a city of reference on a global scale, renowned as the second best congress destination in Europe and in a few weeks it will be hosting events with a global impact such as the ISE and the MWC, attracting investment and talent for the community and the country”.
Culture will be the focal point of the city’s tourism strategy for 2025, with major events such as Miró Year and Barcelona’s participation as the guest of honour at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) in Mexico.
Presentation of “This is Barcelona”
The fair will provide the backdrop for presenting the programme of actions under the slogan “This is Barcelona” to both the sector and the public. This initiative offers experiences that reveal the lesser-known aspects that contribute to the city’s unique character.
The Destination Barcelona stand is an immersive space that invites people to discover and enjoy the experiences offered by the city and its surroundings: beaches, landscapes, mountains, villages etc. Through videos and a sound installation, visitors can discover a unique and authentic new narrative of Barcelona through brief stories and the people who live in the city.
