Next edition of the Commitment to Sustainable Tourism in Barcelona (CSTB) to remain open until May
The program aims to promote the culture of sustainable tourism to the city's tourism businesses and services.

The Commitment to Sustainable Tourism in Barcelona is based on a methodology structured around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. It reflects the desire to promote more responsible tourism among tourism operators and to meet the expectations of visitors who want to travel in a way that respects the environment as much as possible.
A commitment to building a tourism community that respects the environment, culture and social and economic return has already been put into practice by 565 businesses in the city that have obtained Biosphere certification, out of the 1,141 certified across the Destination Barcelona area.
The next edition of the Commitment to Sustainable Tourism in Barcelona (CSTB) will remain open until mid-May, with the aim of spreading a culture of sustainable tourism among the city’s tourism businesses and services.
Barcelona City Council, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and the Barcelona Tourism Consortium, awards the Biosphere Sustainable certification through the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI), with the aim of recognising tourism operators that are committed to a responsible management model that respects the environment, culture, working conditions and social and economic return. The seal is free of charge for operators, as it is fully subsidised by the IEET (tourist tax), as are future renewals in subsequent years.
It is especially important for the sector to take a step forwards in adopting values based on sustainability and the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, thereby strengthening its commitment to Destination Barcelona.
