Destination Barcelona has launched a new video to highlight some of the initiatives associated with the Commitment to Sustainable Tourism programme, certified by Biosphere.

Sustainability goes far beyond caring for the environment; it has a social aspect aimed at integrating all individuals within society, whether they are at risk of social exclusion or have a disability. This is why, the Commitment to Sustainable Tourism in Destination Barcelona has presented a new video aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and showcasing some of the initiatives linked to the programme.

A Committed Programme

The Commitment to Sustainable Tourism of Destination Barcelona is a programme aimed at companies, services, and public entities in the city and the counties of Barcelona province that wish to improve how they manage sustainable tourism and their positioning as a tourist destination.

This project recognises the efforts of companies, services, and entities that advocate for management practices that respect the environment, culture, and the social and economic return for the city and the counties of Barcelona. Companies wishing to participate must comply with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

The programme is supported by the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Barcelona City Council, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and the Barcelona Tourism Consortium.
