The Pact of Time and the NUST Network present their experience at the Table of Municipalities for the Metropolitan Pact for the Right to Time

»The Barcelona City Council and its Network of companies for a new working time (Nust Network) have participated in the fourth Table of Municipalities for the Metropolitan Pact for the Right to Time, focused on time policies involving companies and social fabric and productive of the territory.

On November 22, the fourth working session of the Table of Municipalities was held for the Metropolitan Pact for the Right to Time, exchange and the governability of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) in time policies. On this occasion, the topic to be worked on was related to those actions linked to the improvement of the organization of time in the social and productive fabric.

The Barcelona City Council participated in the table as one of the municipalities promoting the Metropolitan Pact for the Right to Time. As a local entity committed to the development of metropolitan time policies, it shared its experience in the organization of working time with the example of the Nust Network, presented by Míriam Martínez Camacho, technical officer of the Directorate of Gender and Time Policies at the city council.

As case studies of organizations involved in a new organization of working time, the Table also had the participation of two prize-winning companies and members of the Nust Network: Penguin Random House Group Editorial and Lymbus. They shared concrete actions that can encourage companies to transform working time.

During the session, the importance of the balance between work and personal life, the mental and physical health of workers, labour equality, environmental sustainability and climate action was highlighted. The need for a responsible reconciliation was also emphasized, with measures such as: flexible hours, teleworking, health support and transparency in business practices. With the understanding that this approach aims to improve the quality of working life and wants to promote sustainability and social responsibility.

The Table was attended by the vast majority of the 32 metropolitan municipalities, as well as Ester Pujol, director of Economic and Social Development of the AMB, and Anna Hernàndez, director of the Economic Development Agency of the AMB. Among other practices presented, the participating municipalities were also able to learn first-hand the experience of the Network of Companies, Entities and Trades for the Time Reform of Esplugues de Llobregat.
