Mission of the Espai Bombers

The Espai Bombers - Prevention Park has two main missions:

  • To offer a museum space on the history of the Barcelona Fire Brigade that explores the brigade’s past and heritage, as well as its ties to the city of Barcelona, spanning more than 180 years.
  • To provide a centre for training and dissemination dedicated to prevention and self-protection.

This new space, opened on 11 November 2016, was designed to serve as a public institution, open to the public, where the history of the Barcelona Fire Brigade can be told and where research and dissemination of knowledge in the field of prevention and self-protection can be promoted, with the goal of becoming a point of reference in the field.

What is there at Espai Bombers?

The items on display come from the collections of the Barcelona Fire Brigade, which include all kinds of pieces. These include the Delahaye pump, better known as Genoveva, one of the brigade's most emblematic historical vehicles. As well as the equipment on display, the museum includes various elements with audiovisual content that allow visitor interaction. Espai Bombers also lets users experience the sensations of a fire, with an audiovisual system that reproduces all the stages of a real fire emergency, from the first call to when the last flames are put out.

The centre has several lecture halls for providing information sessions and courses on safety and prevention and also includes a meeting centre for organisations such as El Cau del Jubilat (retired fire fighters' association) and the ACE (the Barcelona Fire Fighters Sports and Cultural Group).
