The permanent exhibition aims to familiarise visitors with the Barcelona Fire Brigade, in both the past and the present, through the various pieces in the collection, texts, images, and audiovisual and interactive resources.

Located on the ground floor of the building, it is structured around five themed blocks that break down life in the Barcelona Fire Brigade: its vehicles, stations and quarters, communications, the fire fighters and their equipment. All the blocks are equipped with texts, images, objects and an interactive element that provides further information on a particular aspect.

This information is accompanied by various audiovisual elements that explore the mission and function of fire fighters, show how the fire fighters put out an actual fire in the city, and cover the history of the force and how it has evolved alongside the city of Barcelona.

The main stars of the whole experience are two of the most important pieces of the collection of the Barcelona Fire Brigade: Genoveva, one of the first motor vehicles acquired by Barcelona City Council in 1923, and the Merryweather steam pump, one of the most important advances in material and equipment in the late 19th century. Both have been carefully conserved and restored by the city’s fire fighters.

To really make your visit to Espai Bombers a unique experience, we have a museum collection, whose purpose is to immerse visitors in the experience of a real fire event, from the first call taken right up to the extinction of the fire. All the audiovisual and interactive elements in the permanent exhibition mean the experience really fills the space, so visitors are truly captivated by the emergency situation.
