Staircase and landing

A semi-circular staircase with an iron banister leads to a small, square upstairs landing. The staircase is interesting because of its simple, austere lines. The steps are of the Italian style, and were prefabricated all in one piece using artificial stone. The banister is made from metal tubes of varying diameters that form the balusters and the newel post, which in turn becomes a handrail. The base rail is the only part of the construction that is flat. The banister is painted with one coat of red oxide and two coats of blue oil-based paint.
