Barcelona City Council has launched the ‘City Experiences’ programme through its tourist-stay tax, to expand and consolidate the city’s calendar of events and activities with international-profile-raising potential. And it has presented the programme at the B-Travel Fair this weekend.
A programme that aims to promote decentralisation by expanding the attractions offered to visitors while highlighting new content in the neighbourhoods and publicising new attractions among city residents as well as visitors with sports, culinary and cultural activities promoted by local organisations that are held at different venues throughout the year.
In all 18 experiences selected by Ciutat Vella, with the Cultura Raval(s) festival and a street-artists festival, Buskerai; Eixample, with the 17th Modernista Fair; Sants, with the Tradicat traditional trade fair; Les Corts, with the Circorts circus festival; Sarrià, with the Rocamora Foundation exhibition entitled “Negre: del dola la seducció” plus the flora and fauna day at Can Calopa; Gràcia, with the human tower performances Diades de Castellers; Horta-Guinardó, with the Cros3 Turons-la Diablada fun run and the Torre del Suro live nativity scene; Nou Barris, with the Roquetes fashion fair, Food &Wood Week, Soups of the World festival and the ‘Royal Camp’; Sant Andreu, with the Jazzing festival that has now reached its 10th edition and Sant Martí, with the contemporary performing arts Poblenou Stage Festival.
The B-Travel Tourism Fair is held every year at the Montjuïc trade fair site during the weekend of 24 to 26 March. putting the focus on experiences. This year’s fair brings together more than 30 participating destinations and 120 exhibitors who will be presenting their best offers and promotions based on food, music and films, with the aim of satisfying the demand of the Catalan market, which is the main source of travellers from all over Spain.
Turisme de Barcelona is sharing its B-Travel booth with Barcelona City Council and Barcelona Provincial Council under the slogan “Barcelona, the place to be”. The booth will be showing all the year’s experiences and new developments such as the America’s Cup, Domènech i Montaner Year, Picasso Year and Catalonia’s big cycling race, La Volta.
