The Poblenou Stage Festival, the Tradicat traditional trade fair and Soups of the World Festival: an opportunity to discover parts of the city
Three IEET-funded socio-cultural initiatives are being held this weekend, introducing us to and taking us into the heart of the Sant Martí, Sants-Montjuïc and Nou Barris districts. They are ‘City experiences’, part of the BCNx10 programme.

The 22nd Poblenou Stage Festival, with the slogan ‘Obrim la mirada’ [Open our eyes], features 15 activities with a wide range of stage disciplines that include theatre, dance, performances, circus and clowns. The event, which is on from 19 to 22 October, will be offering 4 creation shows and 11 finished works by 21 companies. Now established as the city’s Contemporary Creation Festival, it received the 2014 FAD Award and the Barcelona Medal of Honour in 2015, in recognition of its involvement with the area and its surrounding social reality.
On Saturday Tradicat will occupy Carrer de Sants. This is the fourth of these fairs, which will be offering a sample of local trade, traditional crafts from all around Catalonia and the best catering with a large sample of Catalan cultural traditions throughout the day. It will feature two stages: one with traditional dance and music performances and the other with present-day groups playing rumba, Catalan rock and so on. It will also include children’s activities set in local traditions. This year its programme will be joining forces with the Correllengua de Sants, promoting the use of Catalan, so it’s going to be a big day packed with activities and sensations.
Last but not least is the 19th International Soups of the World Festival, taking place this coming Sunday in Nou Barris, accompanied by a circus show at 12 noon and a concert by Los Combos from the blues school at 1 pm. The event, obviously, is dedicated to soup: a symbol of mixture and, at the same time, difference, of something very much our own and at the same time very universal. The aim behind organising this everyday activity is to showcase the various cultures coexisting in the district, with each one contributing its own distinctive touch with soup from its land of origin.
