La Cavalcada de la Mercè
From the starting point in C/ Pelai (18.00 h) right until the end plaça Sant Jaume (19.00 h), every step along the way of Cavalcada (The Mercè Procession) is an opportunity to flood the heart of the city with music, colour and grace of the Gegants i Gegantes (giants). This will be the final giant activity for La Mercè, before the closing ceremony, the Toc a Plegar on 24 September.
Organised by the Coordinadora de Colles Geganteres de Barcelona, it symbolises the living essence of Catalan culture, with its giants as the undisputed stars of the show. What’s more, this year marks the 600th anniversary of the Giants of the City.
