The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the Mayor of Amman, Yousef Al Shawarbeh, have signed a declaration of intent to strengthen collaboration between the two cities. The meeting took place within the framework of Mayor Collboni’s institutional trip to the Middle East.

The agreement expresses the shared will to promote friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation for the benefit of citizens. The mayors highlighted the importance of fostering dialogue and collaboration and committed to intensifying exchanges in areas of shared interest. The main fields of cooperation include accessibility, sustainable water management, the development of green public spaces, urban drainage systems, flood prevention, and the development of smart cities.
With this declaration, both municipal governments reaffirm their willingness to work in a spirit of cooperation to promote prosperity, resilience, and the well-being of the citizens of Barcelona and Amman, the capital of Jordan, a city of great strategic importance in the Mediterranean context.
The document is not legally binding but represents a political commitment to collaboration and establishes a stable framework of ties to be developed in the coming years.
