As in previous years, and to mark International Women’s Day, Barcelona City Council is calling for entries for the 8 March - Maria Aurèlia Capmany Award, to reflect on an issue with a social and gender impact. The subject chosen for this 37th edition is sexual freedom, the right to one's own body and to desire as an irrevocable power of all women. Adopting the slogan “The irrepressible desire for freedom”, the 2023 award aims to support projects that advance the sexual freedom of women in all their diversity and to guarantee their sexual and reproductive rights.

Projects may be submitted by natural persons, groups, associations or other non-profit organisations based in Barcelona. All entities must have their head office in the city of Barcelona. For groups that are not legally incorporated, and which are made up solely of natural persons, whoever acts as the group’s representative must be a registered resident of Barcelona.

The period for submitting entries is 20 working days, as from the day after the date of publication in the Official Barcelona Province Gazette (BOPB), that is, from 13 January to 9 February 2023 (first and last dates included).
