Thu, 21/09/2023 - 10:47

Safety and prevention. There’s an activity for children to climb on board a fire engine on Sunday, 25 September.

The centre for training, dissemination and exhibitions is offering additional activities on top of its usual programme, which includes guided tours on the first Saturday of each month, with different options over the three days of this long weekend.

The following open days and activities are being offered:

  • Saturday, 23 September: guided one-hour tours at 11.30 am and 4.30 pm to discover the history of the corps and the building, constructed for the Universal Exposition of 1929. Visitors can visit the museum freely from 11 am to 3 pm and 4 pm and 8 pm. For tours, places must be booked in advance.
  • Sunday, 24 September: activities for little ones, who can climb on board a fire engine with the help of firefighters. They can also discover the equipment the corps uses, such as protective suits. Access is every twenty minutes between 11 am and 3 pm. Booking in advance is also required.
  • Monday, 25 September: free and open visit to the museum between 11 am and 3 pm, to discover the collection on display there and the interactive and audio-visual resources there. No booking required.

Bookings for 23 and 24 September can be made by email to espaibombers@bcn.cat, indicating the name and the total number in the group (maximum 20 people).

Resumption of usual visits and activities

Besides the special programme for these dates, on the first Saturday of each month from 12 noon to 1 pm, there will be a guided tour.

As from 1 October there will be a dynamic family activity every Sunday: a gymkhana allowing participants to access information and complete their Quadern del bomber (Firefighters notebook). The exercise sets out different scenarios where danger can only be overcome successfully by following the guidelines correctly. This activity will be from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm.

If you prefer to visit at your own pace, there’s a permanent exhibition structured around five topics: vehicles, fire stations, communications, firefighters and equipment. The opening times are as follows (except for 25 and 26 December and 1 January, when the centre is closed):

Mondays: closed
Tuesdays and Thursdays: from 10 am to 2 pm
Wednesdays and Fridays: from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm
Saturdays: from 11 am to 3 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm
Sundays and public holidays: from 11 am to 3 pm

See you there!
