Artists in Residence at the Institut Montjuïc

Creators Jorge Dutor and Guillem Mont de Palol present Accions per a una classe de 1r d'ESO (Actions for an ESO first year class),  a work conceived from interactions with a group of pupils from the the Institut Montjuïc as part of the "In Residence" programme.

“We will things, we move things with our minds or we send telepathic messages. During this year’s En RESIDÈNCIA (IN RESIDENCE) with a group of first year pupils from the Institut Montjuïc secondary school, we’ve experimented with, imagined and practised different methods of extrasensory communication, becoming superheroes in the process.”

Students participating in this project are: Isabel Asensio, Nayat Bartolomé, Nayara Bola, Andrew Merchán, Maitane Peiró, Csarvin Pregillana, Sandra Tarrasón, Andy Vasquez, Noa Clarà, Sheila Felguera, Marc Font, Natalia Giménez, Judith Gistàs, Juan Antonio Heredia, Alejandro Martínez, Xavier Moya, Sergio Naranjo, David Traycheva, Lucas Valdes and Oscar Vidal, alongside teachers Quim Tubert and Vicent Santamaria.

Since 2009, the Barcelona Municipal Institute of Culture (ICUB) and the Barcelona Consortium of Education (CEB) has been nurturing Creadors EN RESIDÈNCIA (Creators IN RESIDENCE) at secondary schools in Barcelona, a programme — pioneering in this field — that introduces contemporary creation to public centres of secondary education through a creator’s direct and sustained contact with pupils. EN RESIDÈNCIA, devised in collaboration with the organisation A Bao A Qu, invites artists to conceive a project specifically intended to be carried out jointly with a group of pupils in compulsory secondary education (ESO). During school hours throughout the course, pupils contribute to its conception and production.
