In situ creation workshop with Christian Coumin and Pau Portabella

The artist’s workshop will take place from 10-15 December, from 10 am until 5 30 pm (Monday-Friday) and Saturday at a time to be arranged.

 

In situ collective creation centred in surprise and the use of space, taking a lead from the skills and achievement of each of the participating artists. Discovering, dominating and being inspired by the venue. Getting to know and discovering the other participants. The aim will be to construct ideas as a group in line with the people and the space.

 

Experience-based collective activity, transforming material in favour of the common objective of a precise adaptation, trusting (in oneself and the others), seeing what happens.

Artistic Discipline

Circus

Target Candidate

12 emerging professional artists (solo or duos) are sought who have finished their circus studies in the last 1 to 3 years, are attracted by the dynamics of collective research and who are immersed in personal research or need to return to a period of experimentation after performing for some time.

 

Candidates must live in the geographical zone corresponding to Catalonia, Occitania/Occitanie, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Aragon, Euskadi (Basque Country) and Navarre/Navarra. The project will take care of travel costs and the stay of artists from France.

  • Free, with previous selection
  • Each artist must bring their circus equipment, without forgetting those unusual (though useful) abilities and/or musical instruments. Please note: the final workshop presentation will take place that the MACBA museum and so the acceptance of candidates of certain disciplines is subject to the approval by the museum of the technical specifications. It is recommended that participants have access to a self-supporting structure.
  • Selected artists must commit to taking part in the whole workshop including the final performance on Saturday 15 December.

Appraisal Criteria

The assessment of candidates will bear in mind the relevance of the artist’s profile and discipline to the project and the group, their willingness to experiment and their availability.
