TRINH T. MINH-HA. SEEN YET UNSEEN
Filmmaker, writer, literary critic and composer, Trinh T. Minh-ha (Hanoi, 1952) is one of the key figures in understanding the development of contemporary film practices. Her films challenge the exoticising gaze of traditional anthropological documentary and introduce avant-garde experimentation and poetry. This is her first retrospective exhibition in Spain.
PALOMA POLO. THE RETURN OF THE GAZE: THE POLITICAL TASK OF NARRATION
This exhibition is the first retrospective of Paloma Polo (Madrid, 1983). It presents a selection of twelve projects created between 2010 and the present day, alongside the previously unseen film Wrinkled Minds. Polo’s work approaches very specific historical events, accounts that have formed the foundations of hegemony, as well as others discarded or silenced.
ISAÍAS GRIÑOLO. EXPAÑA 365
Based on the idea of the diary as accumulation and container of memory, this exhibition by Isaías Griñolo (Bonares, Huelva, 1963) is part of the historia_ contemporánea (contemporary_history) project, which began in 2011 and is still running. It features four interventions that seek to understand the rise of ethnonationalisms, as well as the denialist intricacies of these new barbarians.
MICHELANGELO ANTONIONI Y LUIGI GHIRRI. EL MONTE ANÁLOGO
An unfinished visual essay based on the affinities arising between the cinematographic work of Michelangelo Antonioni and the photography of Luigi Ghirri through a small selection of pieces from the Enchanted Mountains series by the Ferrara-born filmmaker, and the works of Luigi Ghirri, in which the author fixes his eye on the representation of mountains.
