This volume compiles a selection of writings from 2001 until today drawn together primarily from Jorge Ribalta’s activity as an exhibition curator. New screen-based media, the Internet and virtuality, all features of digital culture, lead to discourses on post-photography, post-documentary or post-truth that contradict the communicative rationality and forms of public discourse that have dominated the visual culture of the 2oth century. With the 21st century underway, the author defends the idea that exhibition space persists as a sort of primordial modern public sphere, invariably linked to the bodily experience of social life and the human condition itself.

Jorge Ribalta is an artist, researcher, publisher and independent curator. He has had solo exhibitions in the Zabriskie Galleries (New York and Paris), Casa sin Fin (Cáceres and Madrid) and àngels barcelona (Barcelona). Some of his recent solo exhibitions have been in the Centre régional de la photographie Hauts-de-France (Douchy-les-Mines, France) and Linea di Confine (Rubiera, Italy). In 2015 and 2016, his Machine Monument was exhibited in the Centro Guerrero (Granada), Fundación Helga de Alvear (Cáceres) and Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart.

In 2019, he will present New Angels. Scenes of the Renovation of Plaça de la Gardunya, Barcelona, 2005-2018 in La Virreina Centre de la Imatge (Barcelona). His work has also been displayed in many group exhibitions in MoMA, WKV, MACBA and Museo Reina Sofía, among others.
