In 2020, it will be more than 170 years since the birth of one of the most important cabinet makers and decorators of Modernisme: Francesc Vidal i Jevellí. And for this reason, the preparations for the first exhibition on Francesc Vidal, which will open at the Museu del Disseny at the end of 2020, are already underway.
The exhibition will feature more than 200 pieces illustrating the context in which Francesc Vidal contributed to the creation of the most innovative artistic workshops of his time, in which artists such as Joan Gonzàlez, Gaspar Homar, Antoni Rigalt or Frederic Vidal learnt their trade.
The curators of the show will be Ricard Bru, of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and Mónica Piera, of the Association for the Study of Furniture. And, this March, it is this association that will be carrying out the first studies for the pieces that will form part of the exhibition. The objects will come from both the collections of the Museu del Disseny, from the National Art Museum of Catalonia and from private collections.
