The Museu del Disseny celebrates David Bowie

It’s already here. Barcelona is all geared up for the David Bowie Is exhibition touring the world, visiting several countries and which can be seen at the Museu del Disseny from 25th May. Originating from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the exhibition has travelled to Chicago, Paris and Melbourne, all together garnering more than a million and a half visitors. The Museu del Disseny will be the only institution to host the exhibition in Spain: can you afford to miss out?

The retrospective exhibition of the iconic figure of Bowie explores the various facets of the artist’s work in terms of design, as well as music, theatre and art, all areas extensively represented at the Museu del Disseny. It does so through a selection of 300 objects: photographs, illustrations, record covers, film clips, sheet music sketches, stage design, music videos and more than 60 costumes.

Inside the exhibition, you’ll find a totally immersive experience using audio and visual technology in conjunction with Sennheiser. It will allow you to listen to the soundtrack that accompanies each piece as you go around the exhibition at your own time.

However, the exhibition is not on its own, but will be shown alongside various activities throughout the city which will celebrate the figure of David Bowie: the Bowie Festival Opening Party at the Sala Razzmatazz (25th May), the symphonic concert by the OBC in the Auditori (13th July), film cycles, the Bowie Talks to the UPF Barcelona School of Management and a series of conferences on the figure of the artist which will feature personalities such as fashion designer Kansay Yamamoto , the researcher Francis Whately or the photographer Denis O'Regan.

You can purchase tickets at the official website of David Bowie Is and enjoy the related activities organised by the Museu del Disseny. After your visit, let us know how you feel using the tag #DavidBowieIsBCN on social networks!
