Advisory Council

Council of the Barcelona Innovation Coast

The Advisory Council for the Promotion of the Barcelona Innovation Coast is a consultative and advisory body composed of the city’s leading innovation stakeholders, established to promote projects in sustainable mobility, technology, health, and renewable energy, among other areas.

Composition

  • The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni Cuadrado, who delegates his responsibilities to Fourth Deputy Mayor Jordi Valls Riera, from the Area of Economy, Finance, Economic Promotion, and Tourism.

  • These will be composed of the heads of the respective organisations or their delegates:

  • -To advise the Barcelona City Council government on promoting and developing the Barcelona Innovation Coast project.
    -To promote studies that advance the Barcelona Innovation Coast project, jointly developed in collaboration with universities, schools, research institutes, companies, foundations and public and private institutions.
    -To propose initiatives and projects aimed at making Barcelona a leading city in innovation policies.
    -To drive innovative projects with the potential to develop and test pilots in Barcelona in the fields of mobility, health, energy, technology, and digitalisation in collaboration with the city’s business, social, and entrepreneurial networks. -To assess the project’s progress and identify and propose improvements to ensure goals are met and initiatives implemented.
    -To promote discussions and expertise in the fields of mobility, health, energy, technology, and digitalisation in collaboration with the city’s business, social, and entrepreneurial networks while connecting academia, institutions, and city residents.


Innovation resources of Barcelona

BIC members make available to participating projects a set of resources that facilitate the preparation and execution of innovation projects, such as Mentoring (expert advice), Networking, physical spaces (rented, temporarily or permanently), systems or resources digital (such as databases, studies, etc.), material resources and/or funding.
