First convoys set off for Valencia to help municipalities affected by the storm
The first vehicles in Barcelona’s operation to help the municipalities affected by the storm are now on their way. The operation includes vehicles, resources and seventy professionals: Barcelona firefighters, City Police, medical staff, psychologists, social workers and logistical intervention specialists from the CUESB.
The first contingent is made up of 32 professionals, including firefighters and medical staff, plus ten support vehicles to clear obstacles blocking many streets, reinforce structures, pump out water etc.
The second contingent is made up of 27 City Police officers and 12 members of the CUESB. In the realm of social support, a team made up of psychologists, social workers and logistical intervention specialists have gone to provide initial psychological support for victims and group sessions for communities.
The support convoys have been coordinated through the government delegation in Catalonia and the National Centre for Monitoring and Coordinating Emergencies (CENEM), which determines the services required.
Besides this first operation, other resources from the area for urban services have been offered, such as trucks with Ampliroll for loading large crates, crane lorries, lorries with elevation platforms, a lorry with a loading space of 18 square metres, an excavating machine and other equipment.
