Landscape
Daniela Ortiz
This piece is composed of three series of oil paintings in which the artist inverts the gaze and presents original images of territories in the Global South without the destruction produced by the colonial-imperialist model of civilisation and without its military institutions, which appear destroyed. The first series of 13 paintings invites us to imagine undisturbed everyday landscapes. The second series shows five ordinary houses in Libya before the NATO bombing in 2011. The third and final series imagines the world of reparation: five US military bases currently operating in different territories in Abya Yala appear in ruins.
