Barcelona: Digital renaissance - [Digital Impact]

Conferences

As part of the Digital Impact exhibition, which opens on April 28, the Disseny Hub auditorium will host the conference Barcelona: Digital renaissance, a proposal organized in collaboration with Casa Batlló. During the day we will reflect on the present and future of digital art in Barcelona with experts in the sector through different presentations:

  • Casa Batlló: The heritage of the future. A presentation of Casa Batlló and its entry into the world of digital art, a project that began with a ground-breaking new immersive visit and has resulted in a range of collaborations with artists such as Refik Anadol. So far, these ideas have materialized themselves in the museum experience, public art pieces and new works based on Gaudí’s principles, propelling this World Heritage Site into the future, and drawing inspiration from a genius who was innovative, experimental, and ahead of his time.
  • “Gaudism”: Gaudí, reinterpreted by Artificial Intelligence. A presentation of “Gaudism”, an AI art initiative based on Gaudí’s architectural principles, whose objective is to design new spaces that offer a level of comfort and wellbeing that has been lost in big cities. Following their success in the media, the creators of Gaudism explain how the idea came about, how it has developed, and what we can expect in a future in which Artificial Intelligence is part of our daily lives.
  • Barcelona: Digital renaissance. This panel takes stock of the boom in digital art in Barcelona, looking into its causes, key initiatives and the challenges and opportunities of the future, with the aim of answering one question: how do we make the most of the intersection of art and innovation that the city is currently experiencing?

We will close the day with an interview by the director of the Design Museum, Jose Luis de Vicente, with the artist Refik Anadol, where he will explain how the making of the Living Architecture work was.
