The renovation of the 20 up and down escalators in Montjuïc Park continues. This October-November, work gets underway on dismantling escalators 11, 12, 13 and 14 and installing the new escalators that will replace them. The dismantling of the escalators in the first section (11 and 12) will take place on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 October, and the dismantling of the second section (13 and 14) is scheduled for Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 October. The new escalators for the first section are expected to be installed between 3 and 5 November, and those for the second section between 10 and 12 November.

The four escalators will be closed from 13 October. In the meantime, you will be able to walk up and down the ramp from the Passeig de Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier to the car park next to the Palau Nacional, or use escalators 19 and 20 to reach the same level on the other side of the MNAC, the one closest to Poble-sec. The ramp that goes up from Passeig Forestier to the Palau Nacional car park, crossing the out-of-service escalators, will be closed on days of mass events at the Anella Olímpica, such as Barça matches at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

The new model of escalators, which is being gradually installed throughout Montjuïc Park, is more energy efficient and sustainable. In addition, it incorporates a remote control and monitoring system that will optimise its operation and guarantee its availability. Montjuïc thus takes a step forward in improving accessibility to the mountain and makes progress in reducing its CO2 footprint.
