Closure of the Montjuïc escalators on 12 and 13 August
Due to the electrical system upgrade works as part of the renovation of the escalators on Montjuïc mountain, the escalators will be temporarily out of service on both days.
The renovation of the escalators on Montjuïc mountain, once completed, will ensure equal accessibility across the entire area, improve the management of public mobility, and contribute to reducing its CO₂ footprint. The new escalators are more efficient and energy sustainable, and feature a remote control and monitoring system to optimise performance and ensure availability.
This renovation, which affects the 22 escalators located on the mountain, is being carried out in phases in order to maintain accessibility. Nevertheless, in order to carry out the electrical system upgrade safely, the escalators will be out of service on Tuesday, 12 August and Wednesday, 13 August.
The first new sections were put into operation in April, and the renovation is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
