Health. Join the Marató blood drive and donate before 19 January.

Until Friday 19 January, you can take part in La Marató de Donants de Sang, the biggest blood drive of the year in Catalonia. With the slogan “Working together is in our blood”, the campaign aims to highlight the collective act of giving blood and calls on families, friends, colleagues and teams to donate. The goal is to increase donations and rebuild blood supplies depleted during the Christmas holidays.

The following collection points will be set up in Barcelona during the one-week blood donation drive, known as La Marató de Donants de Sang:

  • Thursday 11th
    • Hotel Avenida Palace (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 605), from 10 am to 9 pm
    • Escola El Sagrer (Carrer de Costa Rica, 26), from 4 pm to 8 pm

This year, the Marató blood drive has launched a unique initiative: the first Digital Human Tower ever built in Catalonia, which will be located in Barcelona’s Plaça de Catalunya. This virtual monument can be scanned with a mobile phone and will be filled in red with every donation until 14 June, World Blood Donor Day.

There are three permanent blood collection centres in Barcelona: Hospital Clínic, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Hospital Vall d’Hebron. Temporary collection points and mobile units are also set up daily in different parts of the city.
