The Nou Barris district spreads out over land that used to separate the old towns of Horta and Sant Andreu de Palomar. A huge area now occupied by 13 neighbourhoods that most Barcelonians know very little about and which form a varied landscape worth exploring. The district's present-day physionomy dates back to the mid-20th century, when there was massive cheap-quality building going on, to house the immigrants arriving in Barcelona. The 13 neighbourhoods making up what some historians dubbed "the penultimate Barcelona" gradually came about. This is the eighth volume in the "Barcelona Barri a Barri" collection, which aims to introduce sites and stories in the city that have gone unnoticed for many years.
