The Principis de botànica funerària, by Celestí Barallat, and first published in 1885, is a contribution to the world of the garden cemetery that is still relevant today. This scholarly work offers in-depth knowledge of botanical and funerary symbolism as well as classical culture. It is also the work of a “graveyard poet”, a life of mystery that has inspired writers such as Joan Perucho and Ferran Sáez Mateu. In his dedicatory introduction, the journalist Adolf Beltran offers us a study on Celestí Barallat, in which he reveals some hitherto unknown facts that place him in his historical context, without losing any of the fascination that surrounds the writer. The illustrations by Lola Anglada also contribute to making the first Catalan edition of this work as stunning as it is unique.
