Cuines de Barcelona

El laboratori domèstic de la ciutat moderna (1859-1976)

Author/s
Isabel Segura Soriano
Co-edition with
Comanegra

Cuines de Barcelona takes a look at how the kitchen has been perceived as a domestic space in Barcelona – even being called a laboratory by writers on this subject – from the time of Ildefons and Clotilde Cerdà right up to the late Francoist period. It is a feminist exploration of the kitchen as a domestic space, with analysis of the aesthetics and messages seen in advertising from the past, as well as the links between the city, technology and architecture.
