Wet wipes are made from a mixture of materials such as polyester, cotton and cellulose, and are moistered with soaps such as glycerine. As they are not biodegradable, avoid throwing them down the toilet, as they hinder processes at wastewater treatment plants and, once they reach an aquatic environment, can release microplastics into the water.
