The Commissioner
Carmen Zapata holds degrees in Law and in Communication & Media, and is a regular speaker at conferences and debates focused on the music industry.
With over two decades of professional experience, she has held various leadership positions and is known as an active advocate for the cultural role of music venues, gender equality, and diversity within the sector.
From 2006 until November 2024, when she was appointed Barcelona Night Commissioner, she was general manager of the Association of Catalan Concert Halls, which enabled her to work continuously with local, autonomous community, national, and international public administrations.
She is a founding member and former president of the Women in the Music Industry Association (MIM), established in September 2016. Just a year and a half after its creation, MIM was awarded the Primavera Award 2018. In 2021, she was honoured with the Keychange Award for her career, which has been an inspiration to many women in the music industry.
